Getting Around Myeong Dong
Finally, Myeongdong!
One of Seoul's popular districts with abundant shopping malls and department stores. A paradise for a freak fashionista as this place provides a prominent branded to a vast range of inexpensive clothes from local. And for sure its famous Korean cosmetics & skin care brands. Last but not least, it is a place where you can taste various Korean street food hawkers.
For Korean, the market locates in the heart of Seoul is a witness to the nation's tumultuous started since WW2 ended. For an international tourist, Myeongdong is a stunning place to spend notably during the night. As Myeongdong always at the top of places to visit in South Korea, this market becomes a melting pot of traveler around the globe. Estimated 2 million people visit Myeongdong every day.
And during one windy evening in spring, I was among the curb, getting around the market like others.
But, wait.
How suddenly end up in Myeongdong?
So, here the story.
Early this year, mid-March to be exact, after concluding long-complex-exhausted assignment; the project team was awarded traveling to Seoul. Who would say NO to a free trip to South Korea? Me definitely not!
It was a 5D3N group tour so all I have to do was sit nicely and follow the program.
Myeongdong Market occupies a certain area from a total of 99 ha Myeongdong area. And it is a heaven for a shopper. Instead of spending money on wildest shopping dream, I let my self-lost in the crowd and sucked the air of fiesta Myeongdong released.
In the windy and freezing night, I tried to capture the hustle yet exciting of Myeong Dong. Enjoy!
Right above - Potato Spiral. Forgot how it costed me. Right below - Waffel with cream and strawberry topping. Yummeeh! |
Stream corn |
Plenty of fresh good fruits. ₩ 3.000 for a small cup. ₩ 5.000 for a big cup. |
Dare to eat ice cream in 8℃ windy night? Me, not! |

Above: fried shrimp Below: Callops hawker stall It comes to my understanding that Korean is a seafood lover. Serving seafood as snacks are innovative, my 2 cents |
Left - a future Korean face. Thank you dear for posing for me. |
Hey, that's me (on the right 😎) |
Inexpensive overcoat made in local yet good fabric. |
Cute with good quality socks @ ₩ 5.000 I bought some for me and my daughter. |
Best hour to visit is in the evening were lights on. Myeongdong open from 10 AM to midnight every day. ***
